I am a research enthusiast driven by a passion for connecting the dots and bringing interdisciplinary approaches to the study of art and history. My work is rooted in the belief that knowledge is happiness, and I strive to explore and share the rich narratives embedded within artforms. Using diverse methodologies, I seek to uncover the stories that often remain hidden, giving voice to the overlooked and underrepresented. This journey is not just about understanding art; it’s about bringing it to the forefront for better recognition and building a Subaltern perspective that redefines our understanding of cultural histories.

Akshit Prabhat, a thoughtful and resilient individual, believes in working hard and staying honest. Raised in a humble background, his journey has been shaped by introspection, determination, and a deep appreciation for relationships. Though introverted as a child, Akshit grew into an empathetic and self-aware individual who treasures solitude, cherishes his loved ones, and strives to make a positive impact on the world.

Early Life and Schooling

Akshit’s early years were marked by hard work and a struggle to find his footing. School life in SOS Herman Gmeiner was about academics making a lot of friends being active in sports specially athletics and cricket, but struggling in Maths and Science. He found hope from his Hindi teacher, Shastri sir who worked on him and supported him throughout.

Bullied during his 7th till 9th standard, he often found solace in his close-knit family, especially his grandmother, with whom he shared a deep bond until her passing in 2021. One of his most embarrassing childhood memories involved mistakenly stepping forward during a prize distribution ceremony, only to realize the name called wasn’t his. However, things took a positive turn in grades 11 and 12, where he excelled and he was called on stage for being the most meticulous student of humanities in higher school.

Despite these challenges, Akshit developed a quiet resilience and an ability to laugh at himself. According to Akshit, school does not decide one’s future, but helps in shaping a student.

Higher Education

From 2014 to 2017, Akshit attended Delhi University’s Venkateswara College, a period he describes as transformative. As President of the S.K.E.T Club, he discovered a passion for helping students and embraced opportunities for travel, writing, and self-expression. Earlier, while he participated in extracurricular activities, his father’s dream on pursuing the Civil Services often conflicted with his own interests and his nature clipped his wings but college life marked his transition from an introvert to an extrovert, laying the foundation for his academic and personal growth.

After completing his undergraduate studies, Akshit pursued an MA in History, driven by a growing fascination with the subject. Though he attempted to clear the civil services examination to meet family expectations, his heart wasn’t in it. He realised his true passion lies in research and teaching. Akshit is fluent in the Spanish language, as he learned the language from the school of foreign Languages, Ministry of Defence. While he modestly refrains from calling his professional achievements significant, his journey to cracking the UGC NET exam showcases his dedication. His resilience helped him to start his PhD journey in 2021-2022.

Work Life

A turning point came in 2019 when he took a solo trip to the UK, where volunteering with the United Nations helped him gain confidence and a sense of purpose. He worked with United Nations but could not continue because he wanted to be home to his grandmother.

For the past 3-4 years, he has also been involved in content writing, finding joy in journaling and self-reflection. He has worked as a freelancer in many companies and currently he is working with Oak Lores where he has utilised his passion for research and writing to delve into the world of Art History.

Akshit’s new career as a professor and postgraduate history teacher reflects his passion for history and his commitment to education. He credits his mentor, Dr. Saurav Kumar, for helping him understand the depth of history and its research potential, which has profoundly influenced his teaching approach.

Personal Life and Interests

Relationships are at the core of Akshit’s life. His grandmother remains his greatest source of inspiration, even after her passing. He shares a close bond with his mum and sister, though he admits to being slightly intimidated by her. His lifelong friendships with Shubham, Niharika, and Shally are among his most cherished connections, with memories of traveling across India and their unforgettable trip to Shimla. Among whom Shubham supported him during the time of his lowest, being there physically and emotionally. Akshit calls him not just a best-friend, but someone who can never be replaced.

Akshit’s love for his dogs—currently a Labrador and a Dachshund—is unwavering. They are an essential part of his life, providing comfort and companionship. A self-proclaimed skilled cook, Akshit enjoys preparing meals learned from his mother, and grandmother, and he often indulges in his mother’s baked goods. His personal time is spent reading fictional novels and watching movies, which provide him with a comforting escape.

An avid history enthusiast, Akshit is particularly drawn to Latin American studies and loves writing journals. His primary motivation stems from fostering meaningful relationships and helping others avoid the mistakes he once made. He advises people to focus on self-improvement rather than competing with others.

To Make the World a Better Place

Akshit’s vision for a better world stems from his experiences of witnessing inequality and his parents’ struggles. He aspires to develop solutions for population control and policies that promote equality, ensuring everyone receives what they deserve. Deeply empathetic, he believes in bridging disparities and creating a society where dignity and opportunity are universal.

As a teacher, he works to empower his students, guiding them to learn from his experiences and cultivate self-confidence. Akshit’s unwavering determination to live authentically and make a positive impact drives his actions, ensuring his life is a source of inspiration for others.
