'The Critic' by Julio Ruelas depicts the artist himslef in serious, conflicted expression with a creature on top of his head, which seems to be part bat and is inserting a sharp object in the head of Julio. At first, this painting seems unusual but upon contemplation, it becomes clear that this painting holds deep symbolic meaning. The artist is perhaps tormented by the presence of the creature on his head but he really does not express it through his face.
