The painting was originally formed and part of the Jahangirnama manuscript produced in the Mughal court. It was later entered in a private collection before becoming part of the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where it is preserved today.

I also find it interesting that ordinary attendants, scholars, musicians, and women of the royal household are all given space, suggesting that the birth of a future emperor was an event involving the entire court. The rich colors, detailed architecture, and carefully arranged figures reflect the sophistication of Mughal miniature painting while preserving an important historical record. Overall, I see this artwork as a celebration of continuity, prosperity, and the political significance of succession, expressed through remarkable artistic skill.
