The Baroque painting depicts a scene from the life of Saint Ildefonso of Toledo. According to legend: Saint Ildefonso was the Archbishop of Toledo in the 7th century. He wrote a Treatise in Defense of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. As a reward for his piety, the Virgin Mary appeared to him and presented him with a white robe as a sign of her favor. The painting was created in 1657. Located in the Church of Santiago in Alcala de Eneres, Spain.
