This untitled piece of art by Piraji Sagara shows his maturity in the field of texture, relief and abstraction. He employs the burnt wood and carves it out using different ropes or strings into beautiful pieces of wood with these carvings. People all over the world would view this piece differently depending on many aspects. The entire piece is full of intricately formed cut-out shapes in the wood that look very much like living organisms, ancient writing, and so on. There are a few holes at different places on the wood where we can see beautiful red, yellow, blue and black pieces of wood behind it. The entire piece has some sort of contrast effect. The outcome of this whole is the juxtaposition of the warm brown wood and the bright-colored parts of the wood. One element that Sagara has employed in developing this artwork is that of artistry. He employs the pieces of wood by carving, burning or painting to come up with beautiful sculptural reliefs. Each piece of art speaks volumes about the relationship between humanity and the environment while at the same time affording the freedom of expression to the artist. This piece of art is an indication of the last phase of Sagara's creative era where he resorted to relief carving as the main method of expressing his artistic ideas in a noteworthy manner, integrating the local craftsmanship and contemporary visual idioms.
