An Italian Mannerist painter and poet, Agnolo di Cosimo or Agnolo Bronzino was born on 1503 in Florence, Italy. According to Vasari, Raffaellino del Garbo was his first mentor, after him, he studied under Pontormo. Pontormo who had an important influence in his life. He also developed a unique style on his own. He focused on the material things in his portraits, especially the hair, lace, jewelry, even veins of the hands, which made his sitter's look a bit distant and stiff rather than warm and lifelike. He was the court painter of Cosimo I de Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. He was famous for his court portraits but also painted many religious subjects, and a bit of allegorical subjects too.
