This piece titled ' Ali Quli, Bahadur Khan and Akbar ' is taken from the Akbarnama . This illustration is taken from a significantly historical text. Painted by the court artists Kesav Kalan and Madhav Kalan , it depicts the submission of the rebel brothers Ali Quli Khan and Bahadur Khan to Akbar at Karah in 1561 . The Akbarnama was commissioned by the emperor Akbar . It is the official chronicle of his reign . Akbarnama was written by the famous poet Abul Fazl. It was written approximately around 1590 to 1596. This illustration to the Akbarnama is the left half of a double-page composition. The scene portrayed is of massive political significance . The Emperor is poised in a high tower like part , depicting his elevated status . The young Emperor is portrayed as a confident young man- a great Emperor in the making . The people portrayed below are all his subjects - for the King is often considered to be equivalent to God , and the representative of the above . A figure is depicted bowing down in front of the young Emperor Akbar . This might be one of the rebel brothers , who have finally given in to their defeat. The bright colour schema used in the painting makes it a distinctive piece of art .
