In the painting, a young man is depicted wearing a hat and an upper garment with a ruffled collar, a classic touch of European attire. Further, the man has been shown reclining in a state of luxury lifestyle with no worries in life. And the vase held by the man has the rendition of Chinese or Turkish patterns, which could resonate as a source of strong trade. Also, the depiction of flora and fauna in the painting acts as a traditional practice of Persian miniature paintings. Hence, this painting is an example of rendering the two different traditions where the indigenous tradition is mixed with the foreign elementary subjects. The background has been kept simple to highlight the main character of the painting.
