This piece is all about the jarring contrast between two totally different worlds existing at the same time. On one side of the palace walls, you have this incredibly peaceful, indulgent scene of women bathing and courtiers relaxing with music and hookahs. But right outside, there's a brutal, chaotic war happening. Fayzullah uses that clever European perspective trick to separate the two scenes physically, and it really makes you think about how the empire works—basically, the elite get to enjoy this beautiful, quiet luxury only because an army is out there fighting and conquering to maintain it. It’s a pretty powerful statement on the dual nature of royal power.
