The painting "The Ministry of Saint Joseph" by Mexican painter José de Alcíbar, created around the year of 1771, is one of the best examples of the artist work, as most of the 18-century painters shared a common characteristic, they were constantly described as deeply introspective creating painting full of emotion, which connected with the viewer. The composition of this painting is divided in two, the upper-half representing the divine, using important figures for religion as God, or using symbolist bodies for example the white dove which can be found between the clouds representing the Holy Spirit. Under the dove a depiction of Saint Joseph holding a young Jesus who is being thought the way of writing. In the background a monument that plays around the composition can be seen, covering the whole painting on the right side. In the center of the painting angels can be found directly under Jesus, in addition to the left two another angels are depicted holding a blue sphere which seems to be falling.
On the second half of the painting normal devotees can be seen, representing humanity and their hope towards the figures. As a constant of the figures, the women who are depicted in the painting are looking towards the sky, as a sign of heaven and devotion, have their faces illuminated, in contrast to the other figures, who's faces have been obscured. On the right down corner three priests are depicted, the identity of them is known as the donors of the work: Saint Philip Neri, José Gómez de Escontría and Juan José González.
