Retrato de Caballero is a portrait of a man sitting on an armchair. He is quite elegantly dressed, wearing a three-piece black suit with his hair neatly combed. Depicted in a relaxed posture, the man’s legs are crossed, and his arms rest on the armrests. He looks directly at the viewer with a smile, giving off an air of casual confidence. The artist, Pelegrín Clave, was one of the most renowned portrait artists of Mexico City. Trained in European academies, he often painted the upper bourgeoisie. He is considered a pioneer and dignitary in Mexican art. https://www.3museos.com/?noticias=ultimos-dias-de-la-exposicion-de-pelegrin-clave-en-mhm https://live.mortonsubastas.com/en/online-auctions/morton-subastas/pelegr-n-clav-retrato-de-caballero-leo-sobre-tela-firmado-p-clav-p-mejico-1851-110-x-83-cm-4774440
