Princess in a Court Yard.

The opus " Princess in a Courtyard" is a celebrated work of the first generation post Nainsukh artistry. This work depicts a strong hold over color composition, naturality and negative space, which is the speciality of the Guler Punjabi Hill style paintings. Ranjha, created this piece in 1799 and hence it shows strong Mughal influence in its perception. The princess in the center followed by a group of her kaneez enjoying a spectacle was a particular of that time. While the attire and the backdrop with bright color palette emphasizes on the opulence and beauty of the Mughal aristocracy, and the gossiping group of kaneez holding different embellishes shows the grapevine nature of the court apparatus in tandem with the idea of servitude. Overall this is a rhetoric piece which gives a essence of 18th century administration.
