Portrait of Louise Vernet is a 19th century painting made by Jean-Emile-Horace Vernet in depicting her daughter in a Romantic Style of painting. The frame shows, Louise, when she was at the age of sixteen or seventeen years old, set against the Villa Medici. Horace's technical precision and love for the art, shows in the painting where she stands in the garden of the villa. Her dress beautifully depicted in its moirè fabric and the jewelled buttons. The youthfulness and gentleness of Louise is captured precisely with his skills. She has dark golden hair, tightly coiffed and carrying a small purple wild flower in her hand which was originally painted as a rose, but Horace changed it to shift the focus towards her daughter. The portrait reflects a sincere influence from Raphael, and other Italian Renaissance masters as he encountered them during his tenure as the director of the French Academy in Rome. As Louise was born in 1814, at the of 15, she accompanied him to Rome, by which she came under the artistic output of many artists in the Villa Medici. Vernet blended his administrative duties by showing the towers in the background. During his stay at Villa Medici, he was immersed in Classical art, as he was a genius in adapting styles, he shifted from battle scenes, idealized forms, to blending non-contemporary portraits with a romantic aesthetic as it is seen in the potrait with a Roman landscape. He incorporated romanticism with intimacy through this portrait.
