This 19th century painting by Giovanni Carnovali also known as Piccio portarys a young lady named Gina Caccia, belonging to the wealthy aristrocratic Italian family. First thing one notices in the painting is the embellishing green necklace worn by the subject along with the positioning of her hand to shield herself from the sunlight. It seems as if the female figure has been spread out across the whole canvas. The muse ebcomes one with the background as well, a special effect created by the lose brushworks with dabs and spots by the artist.
