I think the painting Pir Muhammad Drowns While Crossing the Narbada can be interpreted as a reflection on human weakness in front of nature. Although Pir Muhammad Khan was an important Mughal general, he died because of an accident during a river crossing. The crowded scene of soldiers, animals, and moving water shows that military campaigns were dangerous and uncertain. The painting in my opinion shows the reality of imperial history, because it records a defeat or accident rather than only a victory. It shows that death can come at anytime, without warning. it shows that death doesn't discriminate, it doesn't matter who you are or how strong you are it will come for you and no matter how many battles you win and no matter how great of a general/solider you are, this is one battle you can't win
