This is an incomplete sketch atrributed to Pandit Seu- which is housed at Metropolitan Museum. Pandit Seu was native of Guler - he encountered Late Mughal artistic conventions and established a workshop at Guler. Rather than functioning as a finished miniature, the work preserves the artist’s preliminary thinking, allowing the viewer to observe the development of figures, movement, and narrative directly on the paper. The rendering of the various subjects, especially the horse and boars in motion, has a spontaneity and freshness of line rarely seen in finished paintings from this school. In centre of composition a ruler is depicted mounted on a galloping horse, accompanied by hunting animals like boars. Dog and other animals also depicted to reinforce the impression of a royal hunting expedition. The horse and boars are particularly expressive-The horse is shown in a dynamic gallop, with its raised legs, flowing tail, and animated body creating a strong sense of forward momentum. A palace interior is depicted in the upper left corner- a queen sits on throne among attendants - while musicians are performing- playing intruments. One standing figure seems to address her and gestures outward which looks like he is describing or narrating the hunting scene.
