The artwork displayed a masterfully intricate example of a Monochromatic Kohbar, executed strictly in deep crimson Kachni (line-work) style. This presentation intentionally leaves the canvas dense and saturated, showcasing the hallmark horror vacui of Mithila art where no negative space remains empty. At the absolute focal center of the composition sits a massive, stylized lotus ring (Kamaldah) intersected by a vertical bamboo stalk, symbolizing the harmonious convergence of feminine and masculine cosmic forces. Radiating outward from this central mandala are multiple concentric geometric partitions housing a vast pantheon of sacred motifs. On the far left, the divine guardians Shiva and Parvati are visible, blessing the union with marital stability, alongside a complex array of ritual activities, native wildlife (such as birds and fish signifying life’s abundance), and ceremonial palanquins. Every micro-inch of the composition is bound together by tightly bound cross-hatched lines, turning a ancient matrimonial blessing into a rhythmic, visually hypnotic tapestry.
