This is a very emotional painting for me because it is around the theme of 'nostalgia'. When one looks at it first, it appears as if it's just elderly women gathered in a dining room for a meal, but the longer I look, the more I realise their emotions behind their expressions on cold faces. Each one of them in lost in memories of their own, their body language suggests the feeling of lonliness while having a moment oof reflection. It feels as if they are longing for happier moments. The artist, Angelo Morbelli, sets a calm atmosphere filled with melancholy in the painting, while their red fabrics warm up the emotionless room.
