Total 16 such groups are painted to describe the population of the Spanish controlled Mexico. A family consisting of a father, mother and a child typical 3 member family is shown in various setting and costumes related to their caste or race. Even African race, and indigenous Central American is also represented in this painting. This painting could also be considered a way to legitimise the Spanish-Portuguese colonial rule in Central America. A way of new depicting the new class and caste system of Mexico.
