This devotional artwork portrays a divine incident or leela from Shri Krishna's early life in Gokul. The backstory of this painting goes something like,once Indra the gods of the gods got enraged and the people of Gokul and ordered harsh rains that would bring floods amd during this time Shri Krishna uplifted the Govardhan parvat on his pinky finger to give shelter to his fellow village people and later seeing all of it Indra stopped the rains. The composition of this painting shows Krishna Holding the parvat and the village people and animals standing underneath for shelter. Mola Ram has painted delicate facial expressions,elegant figures and soft colours which are the characteristics of Garhwal miniature painting style. The attire of people also reflects inspiration from Mughal art and influence during that period. Through this painting painting Mola Ram has portrayed the devotion,belief,faith,divine protection and love of Lord Shri Krishna. This painting also shows the beautiful and precise skills of Mola Ram.
