The painting titled "Tsar" by Sergey ivanov depicts a king's procession in the harsh winters of Russia during Tsarist reign . The Tsar is on a horseback surrounded by soldiers wearing red kaftans holding the Tsar halberd-a type of pole arm in outward which inflicts highest damage .The tsar can be seen wearing heavy ornamented brown fur clothing and the ceremonial hat .Even the horse he is riding is decorated with precious stones .All these can be seen as the symbol of absolute power and authority of the Tsar. But the painter ,was using this to convey politically tensed period before 1905 revolution, he was also part of the wanderers movement which later formed the union of Russian artist. The painting also depicts the class hierarchy of the society while king is elevated the common folks can be seen on the ground revering to him.
