Through this scene, Illyarion Pryanichnikov conveyed that the value of money had a negative effect on society and how the wealthy would treat those of lesser means poorly. Through the actions of the many people observing the events taking place in the marketplace; the reactions of many people who turned away from the entertainment or who continued to watch amusement portrays how poor the overall social mores were at the time.
Illyarion Pryanachnikov was an excellent artist and demonstrated this ability through the meticulous detail and emotion contained in his paintings and provided for a very effective presentation through the arrangement of objects within the frame of the painting.
