According to me, this map shows the British Empire as very powerful and places Britain at the centre of the world. The red coloured areas and connecting lines show the large territories controlled by Britain and its strong sea routes. I think the figure of Britannia sitting in the centre represents the power and pride of Britain over its colonies. The words Freedom, Fraternity, and Federation seem to present the empire as united and developed, but they also reflect colonial ideas. In my view, the figures of different countries and colonies show the people living under British rule. Overall, I feel the map works not only as a world map but also as a way to celebrate and promote the British Empire.
