"Hunting Antelopes at Night" is an excellent work that depicts a hunting scene in a dramatic landscape. In the artwork, there are hunters who hunt for antelopes along with the richly attired people who watch the scene on the right hand side. What I find fascinating in the artwork is the contrast of dark rocky environment and bright colored attire of people in the painting. The animals are in motion, thus adding action and adventure to the painting. The costume, horses, weapons and the natural environment in the painting depict the royal hunting culture. In my opinion, the painting is not only a depiction of hunting but it also signifies the richness and lifestyle of the people. The nighttime environment makes the hunting act adventurous. I like the way the painter has balanced the human beings with the animals and environment.
