Horse and Groom, from an Album Page

Support Type: Paper
Paint Type: Ink
Current Location: Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Los Angeles, California, USA.
Location History:The painting originated in Tabriz, Iran, during the Safavid period. LACMA proposes that it may once have belonged to an album compiled for Bahram Mirza, brother of Shah Tahmasp, around 1544–45. The painting later entered the collection of Edwin Binney, 3rd, and ultimately came to LACMA as part of the Edwin Binney, 3rd, Turkish Collection, recorded under accession number M.2010.54.2.

The most interesting aspect here is the similarities this painting holds with the Mughal style of painting. It is clear that this artist's work was a prime inspiration for the later painters in the Mughal Empire especially with respect to folios and animals.
