Through these elements, Tagore has portrayed India as a nurturing mother figure who is capable of providing intellectual, material, and spiritual nourishment to her people. The saffron clothing symbolizes sacrifice and renunciation for a higher cause, which reflects the ideals of the freedom movement. Bharat Mata can also be seen as an allegory of the Indian nation.
