The miniatures of the painter Fateh Chand gave the author’s version of the musical mode Bhairavi ragini due to a highly personal and sacred view. The scenery is presented on the night where the painter introduced a stylized composition using the lack of lighting to attract the visitor’s sight to the center of the painting. There he put the elongated figures of Bhairavi, most likely the goddess Parvati, and her assistant performed devotional arti to the white Shiv lingam behind the dark hills. This is how the painter managed to create a composition that merged a flowing musical mode with an iconic image of a religious service that was enclosed in the limited space of the night to receive a balanced composition of both high energy and calmness.
