Akbar Hunting

Support Type: Paper
Paint Type: Watercolor
Current Location: The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Location History:This painting was originally created in the late 16th century (ca. 1590–95) in Lahore for the first imperial manuscript of the Akbarnama, and after being separated from the primary codex, it was acquired by The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1911 through the Rogers Fund.

The stylisation of the environment is sensational in how it manages to draw the eye to the centre without strict leading lines, using the composition to make for a sense of progression from right to left. The piece certainly depicts it Emperor with power through the colours and posing alone.
