One of the most charming Rococo portrait was created in pastel on blue paper mounted to canvas. The painting portrays a young woman seated in a relaxed pose gazing toward the viewers with a calm and composed expression. Her youthful complexion seems luminous with a delicate rosy cheeks. Perronneau rendered the softness of skin with remarkable sensitivity, almost creating a lifelike presence. Her hair is arranged in fashionable curls and adorned with blue ribbons and a pink rose reflecting Rococo taste for beauty and ornamental charm. She is wearing a yellow gown trimmed with lace and accented by blue ribbons which produces a striking yet balanced color contrast against the cool-toned blue paper support. Perronneau uses shades of gold, cream, and blue to create an atmosphere of refinement and serenity. Instead of any distracting architectural setting, Perronneau uses a muted background to enhance the sense of intimacy. The painting embodies the Rococo period's appreciation for graceful and refined beauty.
