Surendranath Ganguly (1885–1909) was an early practitioner of the Bengal School of Art, the movement that sought to revive Indian artistic traditions during British colonial rule. A disciple of Abanindranath Tagore, he belonged to the pioneering generation that challenged the dominance of European academic realism by exploring Indian mythology, indigenous aesthetics and alternative artistic techniques. Although his life was exceptionally short, Ganguly\'s work, particularly his experiments with Japanese colour woodblock printing, secured him a place in the early history of modern Indian art.
