The painting of Shaykh Muhammad is an illustration not just of the episode of the poem "Yusuf o Zulaykha" by Abd al-Rahman Jami but also of the highly cultured and politicized Safavid court. Instead of showing Yusuf among wedding guests who left Zulaykha in her separate chamber, here we see the image of the characters looking more like representatives of Safavid nobility than biblical personalities. In order to make this claim clearer, it should be stressed that there are several people on the painting that look royal in their appearance and one person looks almost identical to Sultan Ibrahim Mirza himself. Therefore, one can say that there are several layers of meaning of the image presented. As for the painting itself, Safavid art became the combination of multiple aspects such as literature, fashion, and spirituality. It is seen clearly that Safavid painters managed to create an artistic picture but at the same time demonstrate all the glory of the fashion style characteristic of that period. Therefore, the painting presents the development of Safavid painting.
