View of a Mosque and Gateway at Motijhil

Support Type: Paper
Paint Type: Watercolor
Current Location: The Met Fifth Avenue

The painting depicts a ususal day where people are busy with their chores and following their daily life routines along with the animals. The sky looks blue and clear with clouds around. It could have represented a normal happy day, however, the trees around the land are lifeless. They seem to have lost all their lives and greenery. When the viewer's vision shifts to the focus of the painting, the mosque gate, one might notice it perishing slowly. It also seems to be mixing into the sky. This might be interpreted as the impermanance of the grandeur.
