Location History:Commissioned under the royal patronage of Raja Umed Singh (1748–1764) for the court of Chamba, the painting folio was preserved for generations within the familial art collections of Laharu's descendants (including traditional masters Prem Lal and Ami Chand) before being safely transitioned to state archives during the 20th century.

Laharu portrays the mythical and one of the most popular narratives of Hindu mythology. Lord Krishna's birth is depicted in this painting. Vasudeva is shown to be reaching towards Devaki after swapping Krishna with the infant girl.
