The image depicts lord rama hunting a deer. On a backdrop of what looks like a dark stormy afternoon, rama holds his bow and arrow straight ahead towards a golden deer. This painting clearly depicts the section of ramayana where Sita sees a golden deer and requests rama to go catch the deer for her, dead or alive. The deer was actually machira in disguise, who was sent my ravana to lure rama away from sita so that he could abduct her. Rama ends up killing the deer with his arrow, therefore the name of the painting.
