The Dancing Lesson The Dancing Lesson is an oil painting created by Domenico Induno. It can be referred to as an intimate genre painting that depicts elegant members of family. This artwork illustrates people of Italian society of the nineteenth century learning dancing as one of the essential skills in that time. Thus, Domenico Induno can be described as a unique artist of the nineteenth century. Indeed, he usually illustrated the natural relationships between people on his canvases. Contrary to the majority of the other artists of this era, Domenico Induno did not like depicting heroic feats or historical episodes in his paintings. That is why, although nothing really happens in this picture, everything looks quite harmonious since the author preferred using soft colors and gentle textures of clothes. Certainly, the theme of this artwork can be considered as another example of depicting reality and daily life of ordinary people by the artist. Nevertheless, the idea of dancing lessons does not seem to reflect the theme of this painting because it is significantly broader.
