I chose Kawabata Ryushi's Suiraijin (Thunder God of the Sea), a painting created in 1944. The artwork immediately caught my attention because of the strong emotions and powerful atmosphere it creates. Ryushi used mineral pigments, which connect the painting to traditional Japanese art techniques, but the theme also reflects the difficult period in which it was created.

What really strikes me about this piece of art is the historical significance. This artwork reveals Kawabata Ryushi's excellence who excels at his art by using a well-known mythological character, "the Thunder God" known as "Raijin," to drive attention towards the wartime realities.
