Artist:Golu
Support Type: Paper
Paint Type: Watercolor
Current Location: Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art
Location History:The painting was in the possession of scholar Catherine Glynn Benkaim, who, along with her husband, started collecting Indian paintings from the 1970s onwards. It was later transferred to the National Museum of Asian Art in 2023.

What I got to know from this painting Shiva and Parvati are on a Tiger skin, symbolizing divine love, harmony, and devotion. The artist presents Shiva and Parvati not only as Hindu deities but also as an ideal couple whose relationship reflects affection, trust, and emotional unity. The two scenes shown in the artwork emphasize different aspects of their bond. In the first scene, the couple appears together in a natural setting, suggesting companionship and mutual support
