The painting depicts the welcome of Hamza’s warrior by Sanawbar Banu through an ornate gateway where a servant is unrolling a red spread before them. The women in the painting are shown in local attires which highlights the diversity of Akbar’s empire while adapting this Islamic epic for the manuscript. As it was customary, multiple artists grouped to create this painting. Two main artists Shravana and Dashavanta have shown their skills through the depiction of architectural details and expressive figures respectively. In contrast to the conventional manuscript illustrations, Hamzanama is distinct due to its large size and that it was painted on cotton cloth, with text on the back side. In this painting, there is a fusion of Persian and Indian artistic style, shown in the bold compositions, use of rich colors and the ornate details.
