This old painting name is Prince Dara Shikuh and His Mistress on a Terrace at Night. It is special because it show one quiet and private time of a real Mughal prince and his girlfriend. Not like big fight or formal meeting. This kind of picture of royal people in normal time become popular when Jahangir and Shah Jahan was king. The painter is Balchand. He is very good artist and work in royal court from time of Akbar till Shah Jahan. He make this painting with water colour and gold on paper. If you see the picture careful, you can find many small things. He draw small design on carpet, on floor of marble and on clothes of silk and gold. There is small glass bottle on shelf behind. One bottle look like duck head. You can count all pearl and jewellery also. In the painting there is some helper lady also. Two lady sit and play music instrument. Three other lady stand near bed and hold tray and cup. Balchand use dark colour for night sky. He use special light effect so some part look bright. Some expert say maybe he see old Dutch painting and learn that style. The painting have nice border of gold flower. It is put in old Iranian album page. That page decorate by Muhammad Baqir with peony flower, iris and one bird. It feel like you go back in time and see quiet night under stars.
