Nepal Landscape

Support Type: Paper
Paint Type: Watercolor
Current Location: The painting is currently at the Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation and has been showcased many times at prominent Indian art galleries like Vedahara Art Gallery in New Delhi,India

The painting illustrates the beauty and serenity of the Nepalese landscape. In its combination of mountains, houses, temple, and people, it demonstrates harmony between the nature and people’s everyday life. The painting is calm and intimate since the painter did not make an attempt to depict the scenery in a very realistic and detailed manner; instead, he created the impression of the landscape through looser lines and light washes. The use of ink and watercolor makes the scenery vibrant. For me, the painting represents the idea that beauty is present in ordinary places and in local communities, as well as in the careful perception of nature. Finally, it shows the interest of the artist in exploring different cultures and landscapes.
