In "Testament and Death of Moses" by Luca Signorelli, the biblical story is brought to life through a sequence of visual storytelling that takes place through a number of actions within one painting. Unlike many artists who concentrated on one moment in time in their paintings, Signorelli shows Moses at different stages of his last days, paying particular attention to his belief in God, leadership, and submission to the divine will. Muscular, vibrant bodies and dramatic poses in the picture reveal how perfectly Signorelli knew the human body. Through the effective use of foreshortening and colour contrasts, he made his work truly three-dimensional and dynamic.
