Pahari miniature painting by the Purkhu of Kangra, Krishna Approaches Indra for Help. The scene is depicted in the painting is from the Harivamsa purana, one of the texts linked to Harivamsa Mahabharata and Krishna stories. In this composition, Krishna appears to be approaching Indra in a heavenly architectural structure. In the lower left corner of the painting, Krishna is depicted seated on Garuda, the eagle, and surrounded by other celestial beings and figures. The painting exemplifies the narrative and sumptuous pictorial elaboration of Kangra painting.
