Atma Ram was an Indian painter of the Garwahli region during the early British rule in India, who was also the grandson of Mola Ram (the pioneer of miniature paintings of the Garwahli region in the court of Shah Suja). He belonged to illustrious family of royal artists tracing back to the line of imperial Mughal painters. Atma Ram's father, Jwala Ram was also an integral part in keeping the tradition arrive. He's most importantly known for propagating and sustaining the refined traditions of Garhwal school when royal court patronages had declined. His work mainly focused on the local aesthetics of Pahadi tradition. Most of the subjects of his paintings are based on Hindu mythology, romance and spirituality.
