Conversation on a Palace Terrace

Artist:Amar Chand
Support Type: Paper
Paint Type: Watercolor
Current Location: Cincinnati Art Museum

"Conversation on a Palace Terrace" is a fine example of the Kishangarh school of painting that took root in Rajasthan. The painting presents a picture of the prevalent aristocratic culture. Amar Chand paints a picture of a space occupied by the nobles, as evidenced by their opulent attire, which was uncommon for commoners. Hence, the painting gives the view of a royal courtly life through the depiction of courtly settings, status objects and opulent garments worn by the human figures in the painting.
