Support Type: Wood Panel
Paint Type: Oil Paint
Current Location: Private Collection/ Galleria d’Arte Moderna, Palazzo Pitti, Florence
Location History:The painting, originally held in the artist's private villas and subsequently by his heirs, Confidences was officially integrated into the permanent collection of the Galleria d’Arte Moderna at Palazzo Pitti in 1924 as part of the Banti Bequest, where it remains today under inventory number Cat. Generale 249.

Cristiano Banti’s Confidences appears to represent intimacy, trust, and emotional connection between women in everyday life. Rather than portraying dramatic historical events, the artist focuses on a quiet personal moment, making ordinary interaction feel emotionally meaningful. The soft lighting and realistic atmosphere create a sense of warmth and calmness, while the close positioning of the figures suggests secrecy, friendship, or emotional support. The work also reflects the ideals of the Macchiaioli movement, where artists tried to capture natural light and real human experiences instead of rigid academic perfection. I think the painting communicates how small human interactions can hold deep emotional value and how realism can express psychological depth through simple domestic scenes.
