Buddhist Painting of Heungguksa Temple (Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva)

Artist:Uigyeom
Support Type: Silk
Paint Type: Ink
Current Location: National Museum of Korea, Seoul, South Korea

The depiction of Avlokiteswara in South Korea, intrigues me and makes me wonder about cultural diffusion. That a deity originating in the indian subcontinent is a prominent deity in south korea is utterly fascinating and the painting capture exactly that emotion.
