'Arrival of Humayun in the City of Lahore' by the Mughal court painters Makra and Mukund, is an emotional painting of grandeur, as it's contextually set during the return of Humayun as emperor after fifteen years of exile. Mukund, a painter known for portraying delicate lines and emotional scenes, aptly potrays the sentimental return. The scenes are bright in colour, and extremely detailed, with courtiers and gifts of various kinds and scales. Since Akbar was the comissioner of this painting, the painting has political significance as well, showcasing the power of the Mughal court.
