Akbar’s General Sayyid Abd Allah Khan Informs Him of the Conquest of Bengal in 1576 is a Mughal miniature from the Akbarnama, the illustrated chronicle of Emperor Akbar’s reign. The scene records the Mughal victory in Bengal in 1576, following the defeat of Daud Khan Karrani, the last independent Afghan ruler of Bengal, at the Battle of Rajmahal. Beyond simply recording an event, the image celebrates the military success, administrative reach, and centralized sovereignty of Akbar. The reporting of victory to the emperor reinforces the Akbarnama's broader image of Akbar as the source and recipient of imperial order.
