Ivan Yakovlevich Bilibin (1876–1942) was a Russian illustrator, graphic artist, and theatre designer, best known for his illustrations of Russian folklore and medieval legends. He studied under the renowned painter Ilya Repin and was associated with the *Mir Iskusstva* (World of Art) movement. His travels across northern Russia inspired his interest in folk art, traditional architecture, and decorative motifs. These influences shaped his distinctive style, marked by bold outlines, intricate patterns, and vivid ornamental details. Bilibin also designed sets and costumes for theatre and opera. His work played an important role in reviving and reinterpreting Russian folk and medieval visual traditions in modern art.
