The Mughal Era has contributed significantly to the development of a new style of art in the Indian subcontinent. Mughal paintings were generally influenced by Persian and indigenous traditions. These paintings have stood the test of time and continue to be admired today all over the world. The development and production of art reached its peak during the reign of Akbar (1556 CE - 1605 CE) and Jahangir (1605 CE-1627 CE). Among the many artists in Jahangir's workshop, Abu'l-Hasan is regarded as one of the greatest. He was bestowed with the title of Nadir al-Zaman (Wonder of the Age) by Jahangir.
